Tony McManus

Advisor for Lived Experience & Community Engagement

I have worked in frontline services for over 8 years, primarily within emergency accommodation hostels, supporting individuals facing complex and multiple disadvantages.

Most recently, I was part of the Changing Futures project in Rochdale, working directly with people experiencing intersecting challenges such as homelessness, addiction, mental health issues, domestic abuse, and involvement with the criminal justice system.

I bring lived experience of all of the above, having been free from substances for 13 years. My recovery journey has informed and strengthened my professional practice, enabling me to connect authentically with the individuals and communities I support.

- Throughout my career, I have worked with a range of organisations across Greater Manchester, including:

- Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)

- Greater Manchester Mental Health Services (GMMH)

- Sanctuary Trust and High Level Northern Trust in Rochdale, where I am currently employed as a Recovery Worker.

In addition, I serve as a Director and the Designated Safeguarding Officer for Angie’s Angels CIC, a grassroots community organisation dedicated to supporting vulnerable individuals across the borough.
